About Bridge to BC

Bridge to BC is a high-touch, high-tech, 1 day, in-person course required for all incoming freshman students. The Summer session of Bridge to BC is offered between June and August, with Monday through Saturday options. The class meets from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm on that day.

In Bridge to BC, interactive discussions and activities with faculty, peer mentors, educational advisors, and financial aid technicians will help first-year students get all of the support and guidance they need to be successful. Students will take a tour of the BC's campuses and web resources while engaging in hands-on activities that will teach learning strategies to overcome academic and personal barriers.

Students learn first-hand about all of the academic and student support resources that Bakersfield College offers. On a more practical level, the course will focus on effective communication, time management, library research, and other critical success skills. This isn't the "same old information" students learned in high school or with general online orientations. The topics covered during Bridge to BC are designed and proven to ensure students are successful during their first year in college and beyond.
