Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) is developing a new generation of leaders in science, technology, engineering, and
math (STEM) within the Bakersfield community. Our program fuels community development
by promoting STEM degrees and professional careers.
About MESA Community College Program
The MESA Community College Program (MCCP) is one of the country's oldest programs
providing academic support to educationally disadvantaged students so that they can
excel in math and sciences and graduate with degrees in engineering, science, and
technology.
MCCP is a rigorous academic support program that strives to increase the number of
first-generation and educationally disadvantaged community college students who transfer
to four-year institutions and earn a degree in math, science, engineering or computer
science fields.
Mission
To provide educationally and financially disadvantaged students and their families
with the essential skills and resources to achieve success in school career life and
Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related disciplines while partnering
with educational institutions and relevant professionals.
Vision
To become the leading program in Kern County for developing and preparing educationally
and financially underserved students to transition to a four-year university as a
STEM-related major and increase the number of students becoming quality technical
professionals.
