STEM Pathway Support
The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Pathway is the perfect place for students interested in sciences, engineering, mathematics or computers. The Pathway has Associates degrees in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Mathematics and Physics and job-focused certificates in computer technology. Students can establish instant connections with other STEM students and faculty mentors through the American Chemical Society Student-Affiliate club, Computer Science club, Geology club, Math club, Pre-med club, Electrical Engineering club, HOPES (Hispanic Organization Promoting Engineering), WISE (Women in Engineering) and MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement).
With a BC STEM degree, students can transfer to major universities to become medical doctors, pharmacists, marine biologists, petroleum engineers, computer programmers, and forensic scientists, to name a just a few valuable professions. Having a positive future is possible when you start your educational journey in the BC STEM Pathway.

If you are pursuing one of the degrees in this pathway, enroll in 15 units each semester to graduate in approximately two years. This requires 30 units in your first year. Ensure you take math, English, and courses in your major in your first year. Earning 9 units in your major your first year keep you on track to your degree and may help you earn a certificate on the way!
STEM Faculty Mentor Program Fall 2024
The STEM Faculty Mentoring Program gives first-year STEM students the opportunity to enhance their academic, personal, and professional development through monthly workshops with a BC STEM professor in their major. Participants will meet in small groups led by the professor for a total of three times throughout the semester. Discussion topics might include study tips, time and stress management, networking, and more. Spots are limited, and students must commit to attending all three meeting dates in order to participate. Applications for the Fall 2024 cohort are due by August 1st.
