Your Guide to Graduation & Commencement

Graduating from Bakersfield College is an exciting achievement, and we're here to make sure you're fully prepared for the big day. From completing your graduation petition to walking across the stage at commencement, each step is essential to ensuring a smooth and successful experience. Step 1

Earn All Your Degree-Applicable Units

To be eligible for graduation, you must have completed all degree-applicable units toward your program. This ensures you’re on track to meet all academic requirements. If you’re unsure, check with an academic counselor.

Step 2

Submit Your Graduation Petition

Filing your Graduation Petition is an essential step in receiving your degree. The form must be completed and submitted to Admissions & Records via your BC Student Email before the deadline.

Step 3

RSVP for Commencement

If you plan to participate in the Commencement Ceremony, you must submit your RSVP Form before the deadline. This confirms your spot at the ceremony and ensures your name is included in the printed program.

Step 4

Order Your Regalia

A cap, gown, sash, and tassel are required for all graduates participating in the ceremony. You can order your regalia from the Main Campus BC Bookstore in person or online, or during the Grad Fair.

Attend Grad Fair
April 8-17

The Grad Fair is your one-stop shop for all things graduation. You’ll have the chance to purchase regalia, get answers to your questions, and pick up graduation-related items. Grad Fairs will be hosted at BC's Main Campus, BC Southwest, and BC's Delano Campus.

Step 6

Attend a Mandatory Webinar

Graduates are required to attend a virtual webinar that provides key details about commencement, including what to expect on the big day, arrival instructions, and ceremony procedures. Dates and details will be announced closer to the event.

Attend Commencement!

The 111th Bakersfield College Commencement Ceremony is the moment to celebrate your achievements! Arrive on time, check in, and follow ceremony procedures to ensure a smooth experience.

Step 8

Receive Your Diploma

Diplomas are automatically mailed to graduates approximately 12 weeks after the semester ends, based on when you applied to earn your degree. You don’t need to request it separately. If you need proof of graduation or want a digital copy, you can use Certree to access verifiable credentials like transcripts, certificates, and diplomas.
