Jason Williams Biography
Jason Williams began his career as a counselor at an organization that provided community-based
mental health to children. After 7 years as a counselor and then case manager, he
began as a social worker with the Fresno County Department of Social Services. He
specialized in long-term foster care case management and then led a team of social
workers in the Independent Living Program. Here he saw the ramifications of children
growing up in foster care. They were leaving the system ill-prepared for the real
world. After over 7 years he left DSS to be the Program Manager for CASA of Fresno
and Madera Counties. Here he focused on advocating for youth in the foster care and
juvenile justice system by training and supporting staff and volunteers. He has two
degrees in psychology and recently started a community-based organization called Brain
Wise Solutions. Over the last 5 years he has immersed himself in research around trauma
and resilience and within the last year obtained certification as a Trauma-Informed
Trainer through CRI (Community Resilience Initiative, Walla Walla, WA.), Youth Mental
Health First Aid, and Reconnecting Youth.
