Juvenile Justice Program

The Bakersfield College Rising Scholars Juvenile Justice Program is a unique expansion of the broader Rising Scholars program. While it shares many core services, it specifically focuses on fostering educational success for justice-impacted youth in Kern County. This includes educational opportunities that allow youth to start their higher education while still in the juvenile justice system and continue on campus with specialized support after being released.

Stanley Peterson is the Program Manager for the Juvenile Justice program, working with the Juvenile Justice Advisor and Staff to ensure that these students receive the tools they need to succeed academically inside and outside of the Juvenile Justice institutions.

The program envisions a future where incarcerated and formerly incarcerated scholars have equal access to high-quality education, comprehensive support, and equitable opportunities, enabling them to build brighter futures.

This program is a powerful step towards breaking down the barriers for justice-impacted youth, giving them the chance to build successful futures through education.
