College Safety Training

College Safety offers a wide variety of safety related training to our college communities. We currently prioritize offerings for current students and employees. Below, you will find a description of each training. The blue button at the end of each description is a link that will take you to a signup form with available sessions.

Heartsaver® First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training

The course includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants; Chain of Survival; use of an automated external difibrillator (AED); ventilations using a barrier device; importance of teams in a multirescuer resuscitation; and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking). It is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and pre-hospital settings.

Bakersfield College partners with the American Heart Association to provide BLS training. This training is provided to current BC students and employees.

Heartsaver® Training Signup

Rape Aggression Defense (RAD)

The RAD course is provided as a way to help people understand hands-on self defense skills to resist and escape aggressive behavior. The program is designed to empower participants to make safer choices in these situations.

Bakersfield College partners with Rape Aggression Defense Systems to provide RAD training. This training is provided free of charge to current BC students and employees.

Upcoming Dates (Sign up at the Office of College Safety):

  • March 29th, 12:00-4:00PM and March 30th, 8:00AM-5:00PM (Must attend both days)
  • April 19th, 12:00-4:00PM and April 20th 8:00AM-5:00PM (Must attend both days)

RAD Training Registration

Emergency Responder & Red Bag

The Emergency Responder training teaches responsible individuals necessary skills to respond to potential on-campus emergencies, like fire, earthquake, flood, power outage, etc. It also incorporates Bakersfield College Incident Command Center integration with our campus communities and local law enforcement agencies.

This training is provided to BC employees.

Campus Security Authority (CSA)

As defined by the Clery Act, College Safety is the Campus Security Authorty for Bakersfield College. Other college personnel may also be required to serve as a CSA. These are persons to which students and employees should report criminal offenses. This training provides these individuals with the information they need to fulfill the CSA responsibility.

This training is provided to BC employees.
