BEFORE BEGINNING
Start your first semester off right, complete these things to do:

Welcome Center Wisdom
Find Answers, Find Success
Visit the Welcome Center at the Haley entrance circle for in-person assistance.
Our friendly staff is ready to help you succeed. If you can't make it to campus, connect
with a BC expert online via Zoom at the Student Information Desk (SID) for academic
advice, holds, enrollment, and general questions.

Financial Aid
You Can Afford College
Aid and scholarships available to those that qualify. Grants, loans, work study, and
scholarships can help you pay for your education. Apply each year.
Get Involved
Student Life
Enrich your education by involving yourself in a diverse community and co-curricular
environments.
Follow Student Life on social media for updates and the latest on what is happening
on campus.
With a diverse campus, we have many clubs and organizations to join for many different
interests.
Get to know the Bakersfield College’s Standards of Student Conduct to be a responsible
member of the campus community.
Bridge to BC
First-Year Student Success
Bridge to BC is a high-touch, high-tech, 1 day, in-person course required for all
incoming freshman students. Students learn first-hand about all of the academic and
student support resources that Bakersfield College offers along with some practical
skills.
Getting Help
Plan Your Education
Have an education plan to pave your pathway to a career. Update your Comprehensive
Student Education Plan each semester.
Connect with your counselor or advisor, plan your degree, and make appointments.
Look at career pathways, the degrees or certificates you need for the career, and
possible semester plans.
Need directions on using Starfish, Banner, enrolling, or another software? Peruse
