AB540 Student Support & Success Program

The student must fulfill two requirements, attendance hours and degree completion. Please review the AB540 Eligibility and Submission page for a complete overview on the eligibility requirements. 

Before you disqualify yourself please make sure to meet with our advisor. If you are not currently AB540 eligible we can guide you on how you can become eligible. 

Contact us! Future Renegades that will be working towards eligibility can call us at (661)395-4240 to schedule an appointment. We can guide you with becoming AB540 eligible and applying to our campus. 

If you have a residency hold please contact Admissions & Records to review your account and determine if a referral is needed. 

If you are being charged out-of-state tuition/fees please contact our office at (661) 395-4240 to review your account and schedule an appointment with our advisor to determine AB540 eligibility.

Once you have an appointment scheduled with our advisor we will request you to submit official transcripts to ab540@bakersfieldcollege.edu.

You can order official transcripts through Parchment (Transcript Service).

If the school you attended is not listed on parchment you will need to contact your school to request official transcripts. If you have any questions or need guidance on this process please contact us (661) 395-4240.

Please upload your two forms of government identification using file express. Ensure to add the following information:

Sender email address: Your Bakersfield College email address.

Recipient email address: ab540@bakersfieldcollege.edu.

Message: Hi, my name is (First and Last name) and my BC Student ID is @00XXXXXX. 

Select the file you will be uploading. Please make sure that you do not submit a "live" photo, doing so will upload a file that we cannot access. 

AB540 eligible students may potentially be eligible for the community college grant, Cal Grant, Dream Act Service Incentive Grant (DSIG), College Corps*, CHAFEE grant, Middle Class Scholarship* (MCS), private scholarships, campus scholarships and grants, and CA Dream loans*. 

*Offered at 4-year institutions only.

Yes! Our team visits the BC-Delano campus LRC room 134 once a week on Wednesdays.

Yes, you will need to submit a new AB540 Affidavit. 

The exemption process takes about 2 weeks. 

No. Students cannot request out-of-state tuition exemption for past terms. Only under extreme circumstances has exemption been granted.
