Digitization Spotlight: 1976 Renegade Football Team

The 1976 football team took the win over Compton College in the ‘76 Junior Rose Bowl, finishing their season with a win-loss 11-1 record. This team earned BC their second national title, in addition to conquering College of the Sequoias in the 1976 Potato Bowl. This team also had the distinct honor of having some of BC’s most memorable football coaches including, but not limited to, Gerry Collis, Carl Bowser, Duane Dameron, and Harvel Pollard.

The 1976 team was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame on October 16, 2024.

 The BC Archives and Pipe Dreams Media partnered together to showcase several artifacts from the 1976 championship game including:

• The 1976 Jr Rose Bowl game ball signed by the players and coaches
• Variety of Junior Rose Bowl Pennants
• A plaque picturing the team picture, player and coaches' names, as well as their season’s scores
• A 1970s football letterman jacket similar to what would have been worn by the team members
• The 1977 Raconteur yearbook documenting some amazing game photos
• Memorable Junior Rose Bowl Championship glasses
