Dr. Leah Elliott Honored with Education-Academia Award

Bakersfield College is proud to celebrate Dr. Leah Elliott, who was recently awarded the 2025 Education-Academia Award by the Association of California Nurse Leaders – Kern County Chapter. The award was presented at the 17th Annual Awards Dinner, recognizing Dr. Elliott’s contributions to nursing education, leadership, and advocacy.

A dedicated faculty member in BC’s nursing program, Dr. Elliott has led meaningful work in patient safety and maternal-newborn care, particularly for historically underserved communities. Her commitment to equity in healthcare and her passion for teaching have shaped the perspectives of countless students, preparing them to lead with purpose and compassion in their future careers. 
Dr. Elliott’s recognition was made even more remarkable by the way her nomination came to be - an anonymous advocate, inspired by her impact, gathered letters of support and submitted the nomination on her behalf.
