'Hidden Figures' Author, Margot Lee Shetterly to Speak at BC for Women’s History Month

In honor of Women’s History Month, Bakersfield College invites the community to an inspiring evening with the Margot Lee Shetterly, author of #1 New York Times bestseller Hidden Figures, on Wednesday, March 5, at 6:00PM. The event will be held at the Bakersfield College Renegade Event Center on the Panorama campus.

Author Margot Lee Shetterly will take attendees on a journey through the stories of the black women mathematicians who dominated space research and computer technology to propel America to victory in the Space Race.

About the author:

Margot Lee Shetterly, a Virginia native and graduate of the University of Virginia, published Hidden Figures in 2016. Shetterly is the founder of The Human Computer Project, a digital archive and research organization with the goal of recovering untold stories of female and minority female pioneers in aeronautics, space research, science, and technology during World War II, the Cold War, Space Race, and Civil Rights movement.
