Recently, twenty-one BC students completed the Automotive Engine Rebuilders Association (AERA) Engine Rebuilding and Machining Program through Bakersfield College. Each student earned certificates from AERA as Cylinder Head Specialist and Engine Machinists. Many of the students also earned their ASE A1 Engine Repair and Engine Rebuilding certificates as well. This specialized certification program is provided through the Automotive Technology Department at BC.
The program takes thirty-two weeks to complete, encompassing multiple segments of automotive technology – from theory and diagnosis to the repair and modification of all engine types, including high-performance and diesel engines. It provides students with a comprehensive understanding of Engine Rebuilding and Machining, combining hands-on training with in-depth technical knowledge.
With these industry-recognized certifications and the invaluable experience that the students gain, graduates of the program are well-equipped with the technical expertise and essential skills to pursue a variety of careers in the automotive industry. For any students who are interested in applying for the program, visit the BC Automotive webpage for more information.
This Engine Rebuilding and Machining Program is taught by Vic Posey, a professor of Automotive Technology at BC, who is an ASE Certified Master Engine Machinist, AERA Certified Engine Machinist, and ASE Certified Technician. With his extensive knowledge and skill, Professor Posey brings invaluable expertise to the Automotive Technology training facility, preparing students for successful careers in the field of Engine Rebuilding and Machining. Beyond his instructing role, Posey also serves on the Board of Directors for the Automotive Engine Rebuilders Association (AERA), making him exceptionally well-suited to mentor the next generation of automotive professionals.
Congratulations to all the students who completed the program. We look forward to hearing about your future success in the automotive industry!
