On Friday, October 25th, Bakersfield College celebrated an early Halloween with over one hundred families by hosting the 3rd Annual Trunk-or-Treat, combining fun with a powerful message for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. From fake crime scenes adorned with spooky props to playful Pokémon displays featuring colorful characters, each trunk was decorated with a unique theme, bringing an exciting twist to traditional trick-or-treating.
With Halloween music filling the air and spooky decorations at every turn, the fun-filled event became a vibrant celebration as attendees of all ages roamed the trunk-lined pathways dressed in elaborate, spirited costumes. Each trunk was creatively decorated by several of Bakersfield College’s student organizations and programs, including the Veterans Club, ASL Club, BC Cheer, NASSSP, Criminology Club, Bakersfield College Safety, BC SAGA, and the BC Rodeo Team, offering trunks full of delicious candy and engaging games to raise awareness for this month’s national campaign. As guests moved from trunk to trunk, resources were also available for attendees, including helpful hotlines and programs provided by the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) nutrition program, Flood Ministries, the Dolores Huerta Foundation, and others.
The Office of Student Life works diligently to preserve the well-being of the college community by fostering an inclusive and educational environment, promoting student engagement, and providing resources that support students’ needs. Through various programs and initiatives, they offer opportunities for personal development and growth. Inspired by this month’s campaign, the Office of Student Life has created a memorable experience for all participants, filled with fun, education, and a strong sense of community spirit.
