BC Students Participate in Internship Project with Kern County Sheriff's Office
07/10/23
The Baccalaureate degree program in Industrial Automation collaborated with the Kern
County Sheriff’s Office on a special robotics project. Recent Industrial Automation,
Early College, Wonderful Education Shafter High School graduates had the opportunity
to participate in this 2-day internship project utilizing their recently gained skills.
The students completed the first phase of renovating and modernizing the sheriff’s
PC The Patrol Car, an 80’s community outreach robot. At the end of the internship,
the students presented their proposals to KCSO representatives in hopes to gain interest
in bringing this community robot back to life. This special project gave these students
practical experience outside of the classroom. The Industrial Automation program hopes
this would be the gateway to many other robotic/technology projects with our local
Sheriff’s Office.
