Bakersfield College Concert Band To Play Spring Concert

The Bakersfield College Music Program has announced the details of their upcoming Concert Band performance, featuring students in the Instrumental Music program. The BC Concert Band, under the direction of BC Professor Dr. Scott Dirkse, will perform on Tuesday, April 25 at 7:00 PM at the Bakersfield College Edward Simonsen Indoor Theatre, along with a special guest performance by the CSUB Concert Band, directed by Dr. Leo Sakomoto. 

“We are very excited to share a concert program with the prestigious CSUB Concert Band,” says Dirkse.” It has been more than a decade since our two ensembles have shared a stage together, and we're looking forward to this great opportunity for collaboration. Many of our BC students go on to attend CSUB, and we hope collaborations like this will inspire them to stay involved in music when they transfer to CSUB or any other four-year school.”

The Bakersfield College Concert Band ensemble is comprised of BC students of all majors as well as community members who play woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments. The ensemble returns to the stage in April for their final concert of the year with music by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Frank Ticheli, Naoya Wada, and more.

Admission for the concert is $10 for general admission and $5 for students, staff, and veterans.
