Bakersfield College's Garden Fest Returns For Spring 2023

(Bakersfield, CA) - Bakersfield College and the BC Horticulture Department is excited to announce after 4 years, Garden Fest will return on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in Bakersfield College's Renegade Park on the southeast side of the Panorama Campus. Admission and parking for this event are free.
“The event started as a plant sale and grew into an annual community event,” said Lindsay Ono, Environmental Horticulture faculty at Bakersfield College. “We have not been able to hold it since 2019 and are ecstatic to welcome back our friends and neighbors to celebrate spring and to visit the new gardens of Bakersfield College.”
Garden Fest has become Bakersfield's premier springtime garden event for seasoned green thumbs and novice gardeners alike. Garden Fest is an open house, featuring Bakersfield College's Environmental Horticulture and Agriculture programs, and draws thousands of visitors annually.
New This Year, Vendors, and a Carnival
New to this year's Garden Fest, themed “Here We Grow Again,” are a beer & wine garden, food trucks, and organic gardening including Bakersfield College's Edible Education Garden with a focus on health and wellness. Returning will be the Country Garden seminars with a variety of industry professionals - from landscaping to culinary arts - providing valuable gardening information, water conservation and culinary tips.
Garden Fest features over 150 vendors from gardening tips and products, to pets, cooking, outdoor leisure, arts, crafts, home decor and more! Grab fresh fruits and vegetables, ripe and ready for purchase from the Farmer's Market. Enjoy the tastes of Bakersfield with freshly prepared food from local food vendors and Bakersfield College's onsite restaurant The Renegade Room. Bring the kids for the Garden Fest carnival featuring games and prizes for kids of all ages! Presented by the Bakersfield College Student Clubs and organizations.
Admission and Parking
Admission and parking are free to the Bakersfield College Garden Fest. Proceeds benefit the horticulture program at Bakersfield College.
