Biography

The music of James Sproul (b. 1978) defies classification. Sproul incorporates my styles and techniques into his compositional voice. Sproul is an adjunct lecturer at Bakersfield College. Sproul earned his B.A. in Music Composition from California State University, Bakersfield where he studied composition with Dr. Doug Davis and trumpet with Charles Brady. He earned a Masters in Music Composition from Oklahoma City University's Wanda L. Bass School of Music where he studied with Dr. Edward Knight.

Awards

Sproul has received awards from the Bakersfield Symphony New Directions Concert Series, 3rd place in the Southwestern American Prize, as well as placement on many new music festivals and concerts across the nation as well as recordings from Beauport Classical records and Ablaze Records.
