Biography

Cody Ganger has taught in the Theatre Department at Bakersfield College since 2016. She has degrees from UC Davis and CSU Bakersfield, where her studies focused on literature, theatre, and Shakespeare Studies. At UC Davis, Cody worked intensively with Katya Kamotskaya, an acclaimed expert on the work of Konstantin Stanislavski, and she expanded her work with Stanislavski's methods by earning a Directing Diploma through NIPAI (the New International Performing Arts Institute), based in Central Europe. Her graduating directorial project, Tis Pity She's A Whore, was screened at the 20th Annual NIPAI Conference in Austria to an audience of hundreds of international artists. She also has training in Intimacy Choreography through IDC (Intimacy Directors and Coordinators) and is currently working toward a Certificate as a Consent-Forward Artist. You can see her work in the Bakersfield community, where she regularly directs and acts. Some of her favorite past acting roles include Nora in A Doll's House, Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, Guildenstern in Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, Kate in Taming of the Shrew, Cecily in The Importance of Being Earnest, Nora in The Seagull, and Jeannie in HAIR. In her time teaching at Bakersfield College, along with teaching Acting and Film classes, Cody has been a Co-Director of the Peg Pauly High School Shakespeare Festival and has directed a number of department productions including The House of Bernarda Alba, Love's Labour's Lost, and Noises Off.
