Embracing Opportunities to Thrive at Bakersfield College
Choosing the right college is a crucial step in a student's life. For Angie Arellano, Bakersfield College proved to be the perfect fit. With the help of financial aid through FAFSA, she was able to embark on a journey of learning and personal development in digital arts without any student loans.
Like many students, Angie faced challenges when she started college at home in an online-only environment. Balancing academics, social life, and personal well-being can be demanding, but she managed to discover the art of time management through student success resources and by researching other methods on YouTube.
One of Angie's favorite parts about being at Bakersfield College has been meeting new people who share her interests. She also says that she has learned a lot about herself through her studies. She was initially interested in animation, but she realized that it wasn't the right fit for her. Instead, she decided to focus on her love of photography and still art. Her photos were even displayed in the Wylie and May Louise Jones Gallery, located inside the Grace Van Dyke Bird Library.
Angie's journey at Bakersfield College has been one of passion, growth, and self-discovery. She is grateful for the supportive staff and abundant resources at BC, and she emphasizes that it is an excellent place to learn and thrive. With her sights set on a fulfilling future in the media and sports industry, Angie is a testament to the transformative power of higher education and the opportunities it provides for those who are willing to embrace them fully.
