"How Big? How Far?" Evening Show

Tickets: BC Ticket Office only. $4.50 children+seniors; $6.50 adults

The popular locally-produced show "How Big? How Far?" will be shown on Thursday evening, May 5th from 7:30 to 8:30 PM. Doors will open at 7 PM and will be closed during the one-hour program with no late admittance. Tickets are available for $6.50/adults and $4.50/seniors + children 5-12 years old from the Bakersfield College Ticket Office only (tickets will NOT be sold at the door). The BC Ticket Office is in Business Services (395-4326) and the William M Thomas Planetarium is on the second floor, northwest end of the Math-Science Building, Room 112. The map below shows you where the ticket office and the planetarium are. No food, drink, or gum/candy is allowed in the planetarium. Children must be 5 years or older.

The one-hour show will begin with a short tour of the evening sky using the planetarium's Goto Chronos star projector followed by the 27-minute all-dome presentation created by Nick Strobel that takes you on a tour of the solar system and beyond. The planets (and dwarf planet Pluto) and the Sun are compared with each other and you will learn the great distances between the objects in our solar system as you fly from object to object. You will also see the night sky as seen from the nearest star system and then fly out of the Milky Way galaxy.
