Bakersfield College (BC), founded in 1913,  is one of the oldest continually operating two year community colleges in California, and has repetition of over 99 years of excellence. A quality undergraduate education is offered to students on a  friendly campus with small class sizes, advanced technology, and a variety of diverse experiences. It is located in the Central California, 100 miles north of Los Angeles.

The college serves 17,000 students on the 153 acre main campus in northeast Bakersfield. Bakersfield College is recognized by its quality education and it is comparable to the first two years of university in the United States.

What We Offer

  • Strong academic programs: Bakersfield College offers more than 82 majors and 61 certificated programs that are fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
  • Classes are smaller in size and taught by professors, not teaching assistants.
  • Bakersfield College's students may earn an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree, or complete lower division and general education requirements to transfer to a four year college/university.
  • Strong English as a Second Language Program and Courses, which allows international students to successfully begin their academic studies.
