Recommended for students who have not met the reading competency requirements at entrance or for those who wish to improve their skills in academic reading. Emphasizes critical reading, critical thinking, and reading flexibility with college-level material (which may include poetry, short stories, essays, textbook chapters). Focuses on application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation in both oral and written form. Includes responding, summarizing, and outlining. Prerequisite: Reading Level 4 or successful completion of ACDV B62 or ENSL B61. Hours: 54 lect/disc. Offered: F, S, SS. CCS: Precollegiate – basic skills. Not Transferable: Not degree applicable.
